Sugar Drinks… yummy!

DrColler Dementia, Diet

Yes, sugar drinks are yummy… but pretty dangerous.

I know we all know this, but it’s so important that we keep it forefront in our minds.

Check out this article…

“Sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) intake has consistently been associated with increased risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, hypertension and excess body weight, and potentially frailty.”

That’s no good, huh?

I know I’ve had my Coke- and Mocha/Caramel Cappuccio-phases… but the data on the damage that these sugary drinks is doing is unrefutable.

I’ve had patients who live on a steady diet of soda… literally drinking 2-4 liters a day!

It breaks my heart because these folks are really in for a lot of health problems.

Maybe you aren’t doing that much, but just keep in mind that however much you are drinking, it’s not good.

I’m not necessarily advocating total abstinence from the tasty drinks – but keep them to an extreme minimum.

>95% of your fluid should be water or other non-sugary/non-artificially sweetened drinks like coffee or tea.

For some folks, this change alone can dramatically improve their medical future!
