Regulation of Gut Microbiome May Improve Anxiety

DrColler Diet, Functional Medicine

I’ve been seeing a lot of articles lately on the microbiome.

It’s funny because functional docs have been recommending gut therapies aimed at the microbiome for decades!

Anyway, an article entitled “Anxiety might be alleviated by regulating gut bacteria” looked at studies that addressed psychiatric issues with gut microbiome regulation.

What they found was that many people suffering with anxiety could improve their mood symptoms by addressing their digestive health.

Furthermore, they found that regulating the gut through dietary changes seemed to be superior to simply taking probiotics.

So, yet again, we have studies suggesting that merely cleaning up the diet can impact other seemingly ‘non-related’ health symptoms.

Just as an aside, here, I suspect that many people may feel overwhelmed by this discussion of ‘cleaning up the diet.

I think many people feel like foods are largely a mystery.

What is a carb? Protein? Inflammatory food?

What should I eat, anyway?

If that’s you, I really want to help you.

Please make an appointment with me, or download my book to start learning the simple things that you can do to dramatically improve your health.

I’m hoping to start putting together a ‘course’ that covers these basics in a simple, non-intimidating way. Let me know if you think that would be helpful.
