Everything You See…
Since we’re on a roll here talking about expectations, disappointment, and trusting in the Lord through it all, I was reminded of a song by my aforementioned musical mentor, Jason Upton.
He’s got this children’s song called “Everything You See is a Gift From God.” It’s simple and childlike, but I love how it challenges us to try to see things from a different perspective.
For example, the first verse…
Like a big old log to a sleepy frog
Like a traffic jam to the toll booth man
Like a rainy day to a desert place
Like ice-cold air to a polar
Yeah, it’s silly… but the point is that God is constantly doling out blessing all over the place.
Constantly.
And sometimes, what might look like misery to one, might be the exact thing that someone else was praying fervently for.
We just don’t know.
It just reinforces the fact that we need to set our default outlook to “Thankfulness” – no matter what.
God is good. Really good.
He’s good enough to not make me or you the center of the universe. 🙂
Everything we see is a gift from God.
