The Funny Thing About Where You Live
I began doing telemedicine about a year and a half ago.
I was intrigued by how medicine could leverage technology to deliver a new level of affordable and convenient care to people wherever they were.
It has been quite extraordinary… and a lot of fun!
Every day I talk with people from all over the country.
I hear their concerns. I make diagnoses and offer recommendations. Sometimes I send prescriptions to their local pharmacies right over the internet.
It’s amazing that this can happen in this day and age.
After doing over 5000 online consultations, I have learned something really interesting about us as Americans.
No matter where we live.
No matter our age, gender, career, or anything else that may seem to divide us.
There is one thing that unites us.
It was shocking (and pretty funny) when I realized it.
Do you know what it is?
…
We ALL blame the weather in our state for our illnesses!
…
“I don’t know if you’ve been to [where I live], but the weather here is just too [hot, cold, dry, wet, snowy, windy, whatever]! It gets me sick every time!”
…
California, Florida, Michigan… it doesn’t matter where we live. We all say the exact same thing!
Well, anyway, after I’d heard 10 people in a row who live in completely different states and climates say the same thing, it made me chuckle a bit.
We humans are a funny bunch.
And just for the record, I think there is much more than this silly thing that unites us. This is just one thing that hopefully makes us smile a bit.
Have a great weekend!
