Why am I doing Telemedicine?

“But you’re an Osteopath…”

Many people have wondered or asked me, “Why are you doing telemedicine? You’re so personable. You’re an Osteopath! Aren’t you supposed to be using all of your senses – including touch and physical examination skills to help your patients?”

And, the truth is, yes, that is correct.

But in thinking this through, I realized that with the current systems that we have in place, something will always suffer. You can’t do it all. It is very hard to have unlimited time for getting to know your patients AND do all the examination/documentation that the insurance companies require AND give your patients efficient and convenient care AND have the finances to keep the doors open AND have time with your family AND … on and on. You just can’t do it all.

What’s Really Important?

So, I took a step back and said, “What’s most important to me? What do I want my life to look like?”

My answer was…

  1. I want to be growing daily in my walk with the Lord because that affects every other aspect of my life.
  2. I want to be present for my family and I want to be a part of my children’s lives – especially while they are young. I want to be a role model for them.
  3. I want to help as many patients as possible – through medicine, encouragement, or whatever way that I can.

Once I figured that out, it didn’t seem like such a sacrifice to leave the “in-person” medical practice for the telemedicine. In fact, I couldn’t think of a better way for me to be a doctor and also achieve those goals.

So I’m giving it a go.

And I’d love for you to join me.

I appreciate you all!
